Singapore Becomes the Filming Location for MD Entertainment’s New Romantic Drama “Ahlan Singapore”

MD Entertainment, Southeast Asia’s largest content production house, has announced its latest romantic drama film, Ahlan Singapore, which is being filmed in Singapore. The film is set for theatrical release across Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and Brunei Darussalam in February 2026, followed by distribution on major streaming platforms.
Starring Rebecca Klopper, Kiesha Alvaro, Ibrahim Risyad, Ferry Salim, Putri Ayudya, Alya Rohali, and Emilat Morshedi, Ahlan Singapore follows the emotional journey of an Indonesian student navigating love, family, and self-discovery while studying in Singapore.
The project was formally launched through a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today between Oliver Chong, Assistant Chief Executive (International Group) of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), and Manoj Punjabi, Founder and CEO of MD Entertainment, at the Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Jakarta.
Through this partnership, STB will support MD Entertainment’s film production in Singapore and explore future opportunities for co-productions, including feature films and TV series. The collaboration aims to showcase Singapore’s destinations and cultural experiences to audiences across Indonesia and Southeast Asia while strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
“As storytellers, we seek locations that resonate with our audience,” said Manoj Punjabi, Founder and CEO of MD Entertainment. “Singapore’s diversity and cultural proximity to Indonesia make it a natural setting for our story. The city’s world-class infrastructure, accessibility, and multicultural spirit perfectly support our narrative. We’re confident Ahlan Singapore will connect deeply with audiences across the region.”
Terrence Voon, Executive Director for Southeast Asia at the Singapore Tourism Board, added: “We’re delighted to partner with MD Entertainment on this Indonesian production in Singapore. This collaboration allows us to present Singapore in a way that emotionally connects with Indonesian viewers. We hope the film will inspire travel interest and further strengthen ties with one of our largest visitor markets in Southeast Asia.”
The film will feature both iconic and lesser-known Singapore landmarks, offering a fresh perspective on the Lion City.
Singapore: The Backdrop for New Adventures
Singapore continues to reinforce its appeal as a favorite destination for Indonesian travelers, enhanced by expanded air connectivity — now with direct flights from 12 Indonesian cities, including the new Jakarta–Singapore route by Pelita Air. Scoot will also launch additional routes from Labuan Bajo, Palembang, Semarang, and Medan between January and February 2026.
In 2025, visitors can look forward to new attractions such as the Singapore Oceanarium, Illumination’s Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore, and Rainforest Wild Asia at Mandai. Meanwhile, Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Adventure will begin sailing from Singapore on March 10, 2026. These additions, combined with a vibrant year-round events calendar, are expected to attract both new and returning visitors.
Ahlan Singapore Production
Filming began in September 2025, capturing Singapore’s most scenic and modern settings — from the new Singapore Oceanarium to the iconic Jewel Changi Airport, alongside hidden cultural gems across the city.
Over the past year, Singapore has also hosted several high-profile international productions, including the Season 4 finale of the Emmy®-winning comedy Hacks, Netflix’s documentary Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Coldplay’s “Man in The Moon” music video, and JISOO’s special video “Your Love.” Each of these productions showcases Singapore’s distinctive cityscape and experiences — inspiring global audiences to visit the places they see on screen.
