South Korea Sets Temporary Visa-Free for Indonesian Tourists

South Korea has announced a temporary visa waiver program for Indonesian group travellers, effective from 28th May through the end of December 2026.
Under the scheme, Indonesian tourist groups of at least three people can enter South Korea and travel visa-free for up to 15 days. The policy, confirmed by South Korea's Ministry of Justice, is part of a broader effort to revitalise inbound tourism.
The decision follows a tourism strategy meeting held in February, led by President Lee Jae Myung, where the government agreed to ease visa and entry requirements for foreign visitors.
The temporary visa exemption is expected to stimulate the country’s tourism sector and increase visitor spending. At the same time, authorities are implementing safeguards to prevent illegal overstays.
Travel agencies in South Korea are now required to submit tourist lists via a government platform at least 24 hours before arrival. These lists will be screened to identify high-risk individuals, including those with prior immigration violations or entry restrictions.
Justice Minister Jung Sung-ho stated that the government will coordinate across ministries to ensure the program supports domestic economic activity while maintaining orderly and secure tourist flows.
The initiative reflects South Korea’s strategic push to balance accessibility with oversight, opening its doors wider to international visitors while safeguarding its immigration system.
